How can I sue a police officer for filing a false police report?

Contact an attorney. Good luck with that. How can I sue a police officer for filing a false police report?
Leave it alone ! You do not have a chance. The whole judical system is on thier side and against you.You can pay a lawyer thousands and you will still lose in court. The cop that wrote it is a liar, and the other cops is going to lie to back him up.The evidence against you can and will be changed in defence of the cop.LEAVE IT ALONE !How can I sue a police officer for filing a false police report?
I think you need to explain this further. Did someone report you for something and then the officer took the report? Or did the officer file the report all on his own? What were the circumstances? More info is needed....
An official statement to include a police report is nearly on the same level as testimony. The police officer may actually be guilty of perjury if it can be proved that he knowingly and willfully filed a false report. It may be more likely to be a criminal matter. You may however sue civilly for personal damage if that report has negatively affected you or caused you some form of monetary or personal injury.
Normally the officer is not the one filing it, but he merely takes the report that another person filed. So you want to sue the person who gave the police officer that informaton.

In merely an error in his opinion of the facts is not grounds for a suit but to merely make notice and provide evidence to have the report corrected.

But everyone that is found not guilty could say the police report was wrong, but you can't sue of it.
You will definitely need an attorney. Talk to one and he will tell you if he thinks you have a case.
Bobby took the words right out of my fingers; only I wouldn't be throwing any money away on an attorney!
An official statement to include a police report is a government document. Falsifying a report is against the law...file a complaint if you have proof that it is false. Then police officer may actually be charged with a crime. But it has to be proved that he knowingly and willfully filed a false report.

You may however sue civilly for personal damage if that report has negatively effected you, you know caused you some form of monetary or personal injury. But that would just about require you to have had a clear record before hand...you did right? Then of course there is the proving that it has caused you problems financial or otherwise...

Good luck with that....

Of course filing that complaint if it is false would put you in a bad spot...
