What is the fine for filing a false police report?

up to $45,000What is the fine for filing a false police report?
In my state besides a fine there is jail time also associated with a false report. What is the fine for filing a false police report?
Fine??? In Michigan it is a felony and I was in prison with someone who did just that. She only did a year, but still, here it is a felony and you get more than a fine.
Varies from place to place. Just don't file one.
In PA it is a misdemeanor. Depending on what subsection it falls under it is either 1st degree (up to a year imprisonment) or 2nd degree (up to two years imprisonment).
In many states, it is a misdemeanor punishable by up to 12 months' imprisonment. This is in addition to any fine and/or probation that the court may direct. To look this up for your state, find a law school that is partially- or fully-state-supported, or else is a ';repository for Federal government documents.'; Such a law school library will, by falling into one of those categories, let you in regardless of whether or not you are a tuition-paying student there. I have had great results with Widener University law school library in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and with the University Of The District Of Columbia law school library in the Van Ness neighborhood of northwest Washington, DC. Ask to be directed to the ';Code Of (your state).'; The crimes code will be one or more of those volumes; probably hardcover. Look for that particular offense categorized under ';Crimes Against The Administration Of Justice.'; The crime requires that the offender file a police report attesting to allegations, ';knowing same to be false.'; Proving what someone did or did not know at the time they told something to police, can be difficult, however, even when they are on the witness stand.
