What is the punishment for filing a false police report in North Carolina?

My brother-in-law called 911 and reported an accident, he was lying and was arrested. He's home on a $2,000 bond. He was charged with making a false police report and I was curious to what his punishment may be when he goes to court in a few weeks. Anyone know of a similar situation? What is the punishment for filing a false police report in North Carolina?
The first link takes you to the law itself. The second link explains that a class 2 misdemeanor is punishable by iimprisonment of more than 30 days but less than 6 months. Good luck. What is the punishment for filing a false police report in North Carolina?
my brother did the same thing in raleigh he went to jail and did six months now on probation
That depends on what county you live in, and how tough the Judges in that county are. Most the time depending on which county you are put on probation and pay a fine and court cost. I think if you file a false report you should be punished. The officer that had to take the time to fill out the report could have been helping another citizen, that really needed assistance, most counties don't have enough officers to take care of the calls that are reported must less a fake one.
DEPENDS ON THE JUDGE A COUPLE OF DAYS UP TO A COUPLE OF MONTHS. HE WILL GO TO JAIL. SERVES HIM RIGHT. HE HAD NO BUSINESS PLAYING GAMES LIKE THAT. SOME ONE COULD HAVE GOTTEN HURT.
Punishment is having to live in N. Carolina.
