Should people who make false reports on others and lie about crimes?

get the same sentence as the person they lied about would have gotten. Obviously, I am not standing up for people who really did commit crimes, I am talking about when someone falsly accuses someone else of doing something they didnt do. For attention, or whatever reason. I have heard of people like this doing it over and over, even with charges as serious as rape, etc.Should people who make false reports on others and lie about crimes?
i think they should be given a sentence but one less harsh than what they accused the other person..............and GREAT ONE if i have done that forgive me. Should people who make false reports on others and lie about crimes?
Yes, in any and all circumstances, doing the right thing is the best thing. Sometimes it is hard, sometimes it is against someone whom you care about, but to let others feel the same agony for whatever reason is undue stress. There is a lot of political reasons, spiritual excuses, and sometimes just plain peer pressure that cause people to do such things. Unfortunately in a society where the victim is glorified and the accused given little chance to defend themselves it is rare for those knowing the truth to step up courageously and justly for what is right. There is no greater injustice than when justice is incorrectly served. I hope that helps; and remember, no one can be angry for a fault they committed upon themselves, lest they be at odds with themselves.

Victims deserve to be believed when they come forward, falsely victimizing oneself for a reaction only makes true crimes harder for victims to come to terms with!

Good luck!
I don't know about going to jail, though justice I'm against anything that could unnecessarily raise taxes. At the very least, if there is evidence that someone knowingly made a false allegation that there should be some kind of fine or penalty if this is not already the case to reimburse tax payers.
