How can you false report the amount of data you have downloaded to your ISP?

Do you mean, you have a set limit on the amount of bandwidth you are allowed, and they charge you overage for the extra, so you want to find a way to work around the limit?

Unfortunatly, this is not possible. ISP's monitor the traffice sent to and from you server side. You have no control over that. Its not something that is saved on yoru computer. For example, lets say you have the following devices in your house. A XBox360, a Desktop, a Laptop, and a tivo with broadband. Each of these devices are hooked up to the internet, and can download and upload data. And all of these contribute to your limit. Your ISP's dont care about devices, just how much data is sent to your modem.

How can you false report the amount of data you have downloaded to your ISP?
You can't. They measure the data that passes through their systems, not yours.

It would be like trying to alter a fuel tank in a car to trick the fuel pump into thinking it had delivered less fuel then it had. The measurement just doesn't take place at that point. How can you false report the amount of data you have downloaded to your ISP?
David D is right. You can't.
